born in 1976,
by the age of 17 composer & sound-artist
Daniel Smutny won several prizes for compo-
sition and started producing soundtracks and
electronic music. He studied composition and
modern music with Hans Zender in Frankfurt
(Germany) from 1996–2001. Since 2002 he
has worked as an independent composer
and sound-artist.

He is the recipient of numerous scholarships
and awards like f.e. BMW-Prize for Composition,
scholarship of Heinrich-Strobel-Stiftung SWR
(2002), scholarship of the villa-aurora Berlin/
Los Angeles and premiered with orchestral
music in Munich at "musica viva“ and at the
"Donaueschinger Musiktage" in 2004.

Since his stay in Los Angeles 2005 he started
numerous colaborations and electronic-projects
and founded „toquar" a new platform for the whole
variety of his music like soundart for instruments
(SAFIS) or electronics (ESA), new classical music,
improvisation and his electronic artpop debut
„telehors" (normoton).
